One line Author story

Today we wrote a different kind of story. Each line was written by a different person and no one knew what anyone else had written. Here is my story.

I can see yellow and purple rubber bands

I am with my ghost friend

I can hear stomping and screaming

I can smell fish sizzling in the pan

I am on a ghost planet

Tumbling down Craters

Earlier this week we went to Stardome for a field trip. While we were there we deiced to go for a walk up One Tree Hill.

Struggling to walk up the steep hill, I put all my energy and strength in to it and I managed to get to the very top. On the way there I saw a lot of sheep and lambs. There were also beautiful views of the city and beaches.

After looking at the fantastic view on the top hill, we went to the biggest crater. I tumbled down the crater side all the way to the very bottom. When I got up Saadiya and I saw the name James and twisted the letters James into Jouan, which is my name.

Aussie rules

When I did the drop punt the ball flew over Hope and whistled like a bird, happily singing. We have been learning the skills required to play Aussie Rules.

The equipment used in Aussie Rules is a Kiwi Kick/Aussie Rules ball, four posts and an oval field. These tools are essential in this game.

In Aussie Rules you don’t throw the ball instead you punch it out of your hand like in volley ball. I said to myself “Well that was unexpected.” When I tried it, it was unpredictable where it was going to go.

Aussie Rules is kind of fun but hard at the same time. My favorite part of the game is the pass and the drop punt. I thought they were the coolest skills in the game.

Cross Country

Guess what our school did last Wednesday? Yup, we did cross country. Cross country is just a running race but every year we get longer tracks to run. I was in Takitimu.

This year our track is a little bit dangerous, I was absolutely terrified when I saw it. The track was very rocky and shelly. Most of all it had lots of calm shallow ponds and crocked bridges.

I was very nervous and scared, I wondered if I can even finish the race. When we got to the starting line I was shacking. When Mr.Burt clapped his hands we started to run, pass the first seniors and on the shelly paths. Zigzagging on the bridges and sharp paths, I was finally close to the finish line, I never thought that I could get this far.

Passing the fence and running to the finish, I was just relived that I made it. When I crossed the finish line I was huffing and puffing, inside I felt proud. When I looked back at what I did I felt like I had just finished a mission like in mission impossible

Mesmerising Australia

It’s only a short hop skip and a jump across the Tasman Sea to Australia, but there is a world of difference in what you will find there.

Australia has indigenous people too, just like some other countries in the world. Their indigenous people are the Aborigine’s.

The most unique/native animals in Australia are Kangaroo’s and Koala’s and they can not be found in any other place in the world. Australia is famous for them too.

In the deserts of Australia it is predominantly arid, which means dry and hot. Australian coasts have different climate’s to the deserts. The coasts are tropical and moist, instead of dry and arid.

So if you are fortunate enough to make the journey, you will need to allow plenty of time to explore all that Australia has to offer.

Spectacular New Zealand

The Rugby World Cup is bringing lots of tourists to New Zealand, but there is more than just a cup!

In New Zealand we are multi-cultural. Our indigenous people are called Maori, they are very in portent to our country.

We have lots of native animals in New Zealand. Most of them are birds our most unique animal is the Kiwi, they can not be in any other place in the world.

So if you are here to see some the 48 World Cup Rugby Games, remember to also take time out to inspect more of our stunning country.

Badminton

Every term room fifteen has a sport to play. Can you guess what sport we were playing this term? It’s Badminton. Badminton is one of my favorite sports.
We had two coaches one of them was called Lorene, she was usually our coach. But last week we had Donna, she filled in for Lorene because she went to a tournament in Hamilton. When Lorene came back she had two silver medals.

In Badminton you use a racket and a shuttle almost like Tennis. Only that a shuttle has feathers and has a weighted rubber end. A Badminton racket has a long stem but some have short ones.

We also played different games like the rotating game, which is basically not too hard to play. There are four Badminton nets and they all have different labels on them. For example there is the backhand one, backhand means that you're thumb is at the back of the stem.

Swimming

In the last two weeks room fifteen went swimming in the YMCA pools. We always walk with room seventeen when go there, and my plastic bag was rusting all the way. We spread out all over the place and got out of our lines.

When I passed the doors of the pool I was greeted by the smell of chlorine. As I went to change into my togs, I said to myself “I wish the swimming lessons would never end.” As soon as I got out of the girls changing rooms I wanted to run and jump in the pool but I didn’t.

I was in a team called Professionals. The professionals go second to swim. Finally it was our turn to swim. I grabbed a flutter board and jumped in the water.

We did some backstrokes, freestyle and lots of laps in the pool. I had lots of fun, some times it’s hard. In our last day of swimming we got ten minuets of free time, I did some mermaid swimming. Mya wouldn't stop pulling my leg so I didn't get to the other side of the pool. It was still fine with me.

At the end of the day I always say to myself “I cant wait till tomorrow.” Swimming is the only sport I'm good at and I like the water so I love swimming.

Tower Challenge

Yesterday Room 14 and Room 15 split classes. Half of us went to Room 14, the other half stayed in Room 15. We both did different activities. I was in Room14 first.

We watched a movie about kids who made
different inventions. Saadiya, Mya and I were a team. Then we named inventions and wrote what they were for. After this it was time for lunch.

While I was lined up I thought about what we were going to do in room15. I found out once I got in the classroom. We were going to build a tower out of newspaper. Mr Marks gave us some tips but he didn't give any to the other team, I think the other team were angry!

Then we went to make our towers. At first we were struggling and our tower kept falling down and Cheyanne was in panic mode. We tried to make it stand and make it tall but at the end our tower was small and it fell to the ground. So Cheyanne smashed it even before Mr Marks judged it. I was sure we weren't going to win.

Baseball with Cola

Every Thursday rm 15 go to play Baseball with Cola at the bottom field. When we got there Cola divided us in to two teams, one team was called Cola the other was called Pepsi. I was in Cola.

My team was batting first. When I was waiting for my turn to bat I had butterflies in my stomach, because I was thinking that I was going to do a very bad hit or miss the ball. It was almost my tern I felt like I wanted to walk away but I didn’t because I was also excited.

Finally it was my turn. I hit the ball as hard as I could and I thought that I did a pretty good hit. Running as fast as I could I sprinted on the bases but Brodie already had the ball. I thought that I could make it but he got me and I didn’t get a home run.

After the game it was time to go back to class. I had a great day. I can’t wait for next Thursday.

Holiday Highlight

Excitedly rushing to get out of the car, I quickly grabbed a fishing rod and and ran as fast as a eagle swooping down from the sky. I went fishing with my mum, dad, two brothers our CFC friends. My mum didn't know how to cast the fishing line so she asked my dad to our friends dad caught the first fish it was very small my. My mum and I almost caught a fish but we caught a pies of plastic. While the kids where looking at the fish they caught, my mum caught her own fish, my mum was thrilled. After that we kids kept looking at the fishes we even named the fishes. Then it was time to go home.

I hope we can do this again.
